This engraving highlights the horn of the rhinoceros, which I represented in gold, since it is priceless. Instead it does have a price, even if it is expensive and is taken from the killed animal. Some species of rhinos are already extinct to satisfy the demand of its horn. Other species seem to have a marked destiny. Unfortunately according to traditional Chinese medicine the horn is indicated for many uses that apparently would still justify the illegal trade and the extinction of the animal that owns it. In any case it seems that the world will have to do without the rhino horn one day. There will be no more around.

Animals are once again protagonists of my art and their shapes are celebrated by my graphic sign and by gold. The blood represents a clear image of death. The blood is real and in this case it is mine. This is important, because fake blood wouldn’t have symbolically the same power than the presence of the real blood of the artist on the paper. Each copy is in this case even more unique than normally.

Artist friends, do you want to share with me one of your tricks on how to paint water well, the movement of the waves of the sea?
Mine is this: what I always keep in mind is that water is a liquid and fluid element and so I try to move the brush in my hand as well. And the color I use to spread the reflections over the basic blue is very fluid, diluted and transparent ๐Ÿ’™. Something that everyone should know about our oceans:
The ocean regulates the Earth climate. It regulates rain and droughts. Holding 97% of the water of our planet, almost all rain that drops on land comes from the sea. The ocean absorbs CO2, to keep the carbon cycle, and accordingly temperatures on Earth, in balance. It is like our global climate control system. ๐ŸŒˆ

The Ocean is the heart of the planet. Water covers more than two-thirds of the Earthโ€™s surface. Sea plants produce 70% of the oxygen we breathe.
Phytoplankton is a microscopic plant which spends its life being carried by oceanic currents. Basically, these tiny little organisms act in the same way as tree leaves do on land. Phytoplankton absorbs carbon dioxide and releases oxygen. We do not see them, so we tend to forget about them if we even know about them in the first place. They are one of the tiniest beings on the planet, but one of the most important to have around, keeping us alive. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’™

The movement and fluidity of water is for me always an artistic challenge that I love to face ๐ŸŒŠ
I painted these sea waves on a large surface during my experience as a scenic painter ๐ŸŽจ.
