Oil, model’s blood and gold leaf on canvas, 120 x 80 cm, 2016.
With the art I transmit the importance of the living diversity of creatures on our planet. The girl depicted on this painting offered her own blood to express her solidarity to the clouded leopard, an endangered species of South-East Asia. These animals are threatened by habitat loss following large–scale deforestation and commercial poaching for the wildlife trade. Skins, claws, and teeth are offered for decoration and clothing.
The double-portraits in this series are authentic. The way they are painted is very realistic, the expressions of animals and persons deep and empathetic.
The girl of this painting offered his blood, used as medium on the canvas, in solidarity for the clouded leopard.
I am available to paint similar artworks on commission – Have your portrait together with your favorite animal! Realize the dream of seeing you close to it. Wild animals must be respected and observed at a safe distance in nature. In a painting at home, however, you can see them as many times as you want, next to you.
